CCWG, Sunflower CRMP and the Tedoc Mountain CRMP have partnered in mid 2009 to develop The Tedoc Mountain Fuel Reduction Project, Phase I & Phase II.
The project is a continuation of the fuel break system established and expanded north to the Hammer Loop and Raney Peak Fuel Breaks completed by CCWG in late 2008.
Methods of completion will be ball and chain during March through June and October through December. Any rainy periods and high fire danger periods will be completely avoided. Prescribed burns will also be used when appropriate from October through May.
The fuel reduction project will help the rural residents have a fire safe landscape and will enhance the area for wildlife and other stewardship benefits. The total fuel break when completed will be 13 miles long, encompassing 473 acres and will lay very close to Forest Service and BLM lands. Overall there will be 8 miles of creek and fish habitat improved in result of the project. It is estimated that 1800 homes and 2900 residents will be protected by the fuel break.
